conversing.

hey jen. it seems our blogs have become just conversations between the two of us. i thought i'd say, i too (in response to your comment on yesterday's post), thought the worst thing would be dealing with some poor kid who'd been sexually abused. that is until today - when i met a kid who was the sexual abuser. man. this is hard work.

I was noting that as well...haha! Oh well, still fun to read about! More exciting than an email sometimes!

Umm...how old are these kids?! SCARY! If he/she is the one sexually abusing another party, then he/she was probably abused by an adult I would imagine...otherwise how would he/she know what to do to abuse?! CRAZY! Good luck with that!

most of our kids are between 10 and 17. "the dude" suggested that he was pretty sure that one of the parents was molested as a child. i'm not sure how that ties in, but i don't think that he was molested.

but it is really crazy. i'm not sure when we'll see him again, but there will surely be others like him.

Well, as Dr. Phil says "What you fear, you create." Example: Cindi is super afraid Lauren has the family "can't eat enough" gene, therefore she strictly limits what Lauren can eat, and praises when she eats fruit and salad. Therefore, Lauren learns that if she orders a salad, she can get away with ordering the super fatty-cheese lasagna and avoid the disapproval. However, I don't know any 7 year olds that can eat salad AND lasagna in portions the restaurants give. It is almost like teaching her to overeat. Plus, she has learned to sneak the taboo sugar when Cindi's not looking; and she sneaks it in large portions cause she never knows when she'll get it again. So, extrapolate this to the molestation case and it can happen despite your best efforts.
